Adhesive solutions for appliances and miscellaneous applications

White goods and appliances are vitally important components of our daily lives, ensuring we have fresh food to eat and clean clothes to wear. Yet such appliances require several distinct innovations in order to work effectively and appropriately.

ADHESIVE SOLUTIONS

Finding the right appliance tape

Our appliance tapes and appliance adhesives help to address the multiple challenges facing white goods. Be it the use of foams and felts, installation of membrane switches, or implementation of critical noise and vibration damping capabilities, an adhesive tape is vital to achieving the end goal. That’s why we’ve developed a comprehensive, growing, marketing leading suite of solutions designed to cater to a variety of bespoke needs. Whatever your application requirement, we will work with you to find, tailor and deliver the right appliance tape to ensure leading performance in your products.

A wide variety of other applications

There is a broad range of miscellaneous white goods applications beyond branding and graphics, membrane switches and other key components that require seamless, reliable attachment. Be it the fixing of displays or vacuum insulation panels (VIPs), our tapes and adhesives will ensure your bespoke manufacturing needs are catered to.

Evaporator plate & condenser tube mounting

The application of pressure sensitive adhesive tapes in the construction of cooling and chilling appliances contributes to the energy efficiency of these appliances. Refrigerators, ice machines and freezers have evaporator plates. Traditional methods with mechanical fasteners create an imperfect seal between the plate and the fridge housing, leaving gaps into which insulating foam can penetrate and interfere with the cooling system function.

Using Avery Dennison double coated film tapes to attach the full surface of the evaporator plate prevents any polyurethane from escaping during the foaming process and ensures the most efficient operation of the appliance. Attaching the heat exchanging condenser tubes with adhesive tapes provides several advantages over the older practice of attachment via metal clamps. In the production process, tape can be deployed from long rolls and applied with consistent pressure through a continuous, automated process.

This translates to a process with increased speed, along with maximum surface contact between the components. This improved surface contact enforced by the close adhesion improves energy efficiency, as it increases the heat transfer and improves energy efficiency. Tapes involved in both applications require a high initial tack, a durable bond, and an excellent adhesion to Polystyrene and painted steel.

Ultra-High barrier metallized PET laminates for Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs)

The energy efficiency of household appliances such as refrigerators largely depends on the properties of the thermal insulation solution used. The challenge lies in how to reach top performance levels without restricting internal dimensions or changing standard sizes and production methods. Since the thermal conductivity of VIPs is 6 to 8 times smaller than bulky PU foam insulation, VIPs deliver an exceptionally efficient solution to upgrade the efficiency rating of the appliance or increase the usable internal volume. VIPs reduce energy consumption, increase internal volume and deliver effective engineering.
