Technical Application Solution: Self-adhesive Heat Shields
Industry Segment
Automotive
Application
Heat shields are required in many applications to protect components from heat sources. Selfadhesive heat shields are laminated with pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). They are used in favor of mechanically fastened heat shields to accommodate slimmer design spaces, reduce rattle and to avoid extra tooling. The PSA must be able to keep the heat shield adhered to a variety of difficult to bond to substrates, while still being able to resist demanding and harsh environments. Specific applications include automotive and other motorized vehicles. The heat shields are typically used in gas tank, cabin exterior and wheel well areas.
