Overhead Systems

Modern vehicles are becoming increasingly complex to engineer due to a variety of factors such as electrification and increasing consumer and legislative demand for safety, comfort and convenience.

New features need new space, which adds complexity to overhead systems to include items like wire harnesses, rollover protection, lighting and other comfort and safety features.

Pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes offer faster and easier processing than liquid adhesives, opening opportunities for higher productivity and lower finished costs.

At Avery Dennison, we are supporting OEMs and their suppliers with adhesive solutions to help navigate some of these complexities – from bonding head impact protection foams with headliners to attaching stiffening solutions that protect roofs from oil canning, our high performance tapes have the strength, durability, low fogging and heat resistance qualities you need.

Application summary

Adhesives to solve bonding challenges for the increasing complexity in overhead systems

Features

  • Easily secure head impact protection foams between headliners and roof space
  • Bond carton to metal roofing to add stiffness, prevent instances of oil canning, and damp noise caused by rain and hail
  • Avery Dennison’s AFB™ Acrylic Foam Bond range uses adhesives with the heat resistance to ensure strong attachment for greenhouse applications
  • Chemical resistance and low fogging and odor properties

Benefits

  • Supports OEMs in the acoustic and safety performance of overhead systems
  • Adds value to manufacturers of corrugated carton roof stiffeners, who can supply finished products to OEMs with adhesive fixing solutions already in place
  • Adhesive technologies offer a simpler, cleaner and more cost-effective alternative to mechanical fasteners and dispensed adhesives traditionally used in overhead systems such as securing wire harnesses
  • Market leading application engineering and technical support
